What to have ready

None of this is required, but each item removes a round trip and gets you a more useful answer sooner.

  • The building address, and whether you own it, manage it or lease in it
  • A photograph of the equipment nameplate, which tells us more than a model description
  • Roughly when the equipment was installed
  • What the complaint actually is, in the words the occupants use
  • Any drawings, O and M manuals or previous reports you hold
  • Whether there is a deadline attached, such as a lease start or a budget year
